Garrido Specialty Coffee — Award-Winning Boquete Coffee Since 1959

Garrido Specialty Coffee is one of the most decorated family-run coffee estates in Panama. Founded in 1959 by Teodoro Garrido in the highlands of Boquete, the family has been producing exceptional specialty coffee for over six decades on volcanic soil at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,750 meters above sea level.

After the passing of their father, the family business is now in the hands of Teodoro's two daughters — Gissell and Liliana Garrido — along with their mother. Together they manage four family-owned estates in Boquete: Cantera (El Palomar), Volcancito, Margarita, and Los Rosales. Their farms grow Caturra, Catuai, Typica, Geisha, and the rare Mokkita variety — a unique cultivar discovered on their legendary Mama Cata farm and verified by World Coffee Research as a genotype found nowhere else in the world.

Their Mama Cata estate sits at 1,500–1,750 meters in the Alto Quiel micro-region of Boquete — neighboring world-famous farms like Hacienda La Esmeralda and Elida Estate. Garrido coffees are handpicked and processed using traditional wet-wash and natural methods with natural spring water, then dried on African beds and sun patios for a clean, complex cup with notes of chocolate, citrus, tropical fruit, cream, and floral character.
