Finca Lérida Geisha Coffee — Panama's Oldest Estate | 250g Whole Bean

Finca Lérida Geisha is a 250g award-winning Panama Geisha from one of the country's oldest and most historic coffee estates — founded in 1917 in the cloud forest of Boquete. Multiple Best of Panama winner and #1 at the 2003 Boston SCAA contest (judged the best coffee in the world). Delivered worldwide from Panama in 5 days.

Why You'll Love This Coffee

  • Award-winning Panama Geisha — #1 SCAA Boston 2003, multiple Best of Panama placements
  • From a historic estate founded 1917 — first to export Panama coffee to Europe
  • Free worldwide shipping on orders over $70

Why is Whole Bean priced higher than Ground? Finca Lérida whole bean lots are smaller, harder to source, and sell out faster each harvest. Whole bean also stays significantly fresher — grind just before brewing to get the full floral complexity this coffee is known for.

Perfect for serious specialty coffee enthusiasts who want a Geisha with real history — from one of the most decorated estates in coffee.

Panama's Oldest Estate, One Legendary Cup

Finca Lérida Geisha coffee comes from one of the oldest and most historically significant estates in all of Panama. Founded in 1917 by Tollef Bache Mönniche — a Norwegian engineer who helped design the Panama Canal's emergency gates — this 900-acre estate in the cloud forest of Boquete has produced extraordinary Geisha coffee for over a century. In 1929, Mönniche exported the first shipment of Panamanian coffee to Germany, launching Panama onto the international coffee stage. Today the estate is owned and managed by Sonia Amoruso and her family, nestled at 1,700 m.a.s.l. — in the immediate vicinity of legendary estates like Lamastus Elida.

Award-Winning Excellence

Finca Lérida's reputation speaks for itself — consistent top ten finishes at the Best of Panama competition over 15+ years, a #1 ranking at the 2001 Best of Panama, and a #1 ranking at the 2003 Boston SCAA contest, judged the best coffee in the world out of 118 entries.

Flavor Profile

Grown at 1,700 meters in rich volcanic soil where cool misty air, heavy rainfall, and biodiversity slow the ripening process. The washed process produces a cup of brilliant clarity and elegance. Tasting notes: jasmine, honeysuckle, bergamot, bright citrus, lemongrass, peach, and honey — with a refreshing floral finish, velvety full body, and lingering sweetness.

A Century of Meticulous Processing

Finca Lérida's central wet mill is as old as the farm itself — and Mönniche's original siphon, patented in the 1920s to separate good beans from damaged ones, is still in use today. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, each bush harvested up to eight times. The farm provides housing and a school for its 30 year-round employees and their families.

Brewing Tips for Geisha

A Geisha this delicate deserves a method that lets the floral notes shine. A Hario V60 or Kalita Wave pour-over is ideal — use water just off boil (92–96°C) with a gooseneck kettle. Grind medium-fine with a Baratza burr grinder and weigh your dose on a precision scale.

Pair It

The floral, citrus character pairs beautifully with I Love Panama Chocolate Barú — made with Geisha coffee — for a full Panama Geisha experience. Or try alongside an Oro Moreno 70% dark chocolate for a fruity contrast.
