The Kotowa Estate
Kotowa is one of Panama's most storied coffee estates, founded in 1913 by Scottish-Canadian Alexander Duncan MacIntyre. Now in its fourth generation, the family has earned multiple awards at the Best of Panama competition and Panama's National Environmental Award for sustainable practices. Their commitment extends beyond the cup — Kotowa runs healthcare and childcare programs for farmworkers, recognized by UNICEF for nine consecutive years.
Where the Geisha Grows
Cultivated at 1,650–1,750 m.a.s.l. on the El Salto plateau, on the western side of Boquete, Chiriquí. Cool temperatures year-round (13–22°C), volcanic soil, consistent cloud cover, and dual rainfall from both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans create ideal conditions for Geisha to develop its signature aromatic intensity. Every cherry is 100% hand-picked during the January–April harvest, carefully processed, and sun-dried at altitude to preserve the bean's delicate character.
Flavor Profile
The cup opens with an intoxicating aroma of jasmine and tangerine flower. The body is light and graceful, with sweet passion fruit acidity that adds brightness without sharpness. Each sip reveals layers of floral complexity, finishing clean and tea-like — a hallmark of world-class Geisha. Best enjoyed black.
